Our School

Canterbury International Schools runs a Pre-School, Kindergarten, Primary and High School. The school is established to improve on the standard of Education in Nigeria in line with the school's vision and mission.

The school is continuously building a God fearing environment where pupils are taught and prepared for the Kingdom of God. Canterbury is a place of hard work, determination and success. The students are loved and part of a family. Its definitely the place of the moment, the best around and the place to be.

Our Founder

Mrs. Olusola Oluyinka Olaitan

Mrs. Olusola Oluyinka Olaitan founded Canterbury Schools. She held a degree in Education with thirty-eight years work experience in teaching and school management. Mrs. Olaitan is grateful and gives glory to God for her life and the work He has done through her and Canterbury Schools.

Mrs Olaitan has worked at a number of schools in Lagos including State, Private and Foreign Schools. She was also the pioneering principal of a Redeemed School in Lagos.

With a vision from God, Mrs Olaitan was able to establish the Junior School in January 2003 and the High School in September 2006.The schools have grown respectively and have continued to maintain the vision.

Mrs Olusola Olaitan has the fear of God; she is a disciplinarian but a lover of children and a goal achiever by His grace. She is committed and dedicated to moulding and shaping the lives of Canterbury students academically and spiritually to allow them excel in their future endeavours.

Junior School

Canterbury International School (Junior) runs from Pre-school, Kindergarten and Primary. The school is approved to run both British and Nigerian Curricula.

Toddler 1 & Toddler 2 (Pre-School) admits children from 12 months. Pupils must be 2 years old by September to start the Toddler 2 class.

Kindergarten 1 & 2 are Nursery classes. Pupils must be 3 to start KG1. Grade 1-6 --- The primary education starts in Grade1 . Students must be 5/6 years to start Grade 1 in September.

Students complete their primary school education in Grade 6 at the age of about 10/11 years.

Secondary School

Canterbury International High School runs from Grade 7- Grade 12( JSS1- SS3). The school is approved to run both British and Nigerian Curricula

Grade 7/8 - Students are admitted based on passing the School Entrance Examination.

Grade 9- Students take the National Examinations (NECO) and the Cambridge Checkpoint Exams.

Grade 10/11- Students are able to join the school based on passing the School Entrance Examination. Outstanding students in Grade 11 are also permitted to take the IGCSE exams

Grade 12- Students take the WAEC and IGCSE Exams

Our Students

Our Students are trained and raised in the way of the lord. They are taught to have good morals, exhibit outstanding behaviour and aim for academic excellence. A number of our pupils have progressed to highly ranked schools nationally and globally.

We pride ourselves in the fact that our students are ambassadors that are inspired, empowered and equipped to make global impact and attain academic excellence.

Our Parents

We are appreciative of our parents and are happy they have allowed us the opportunity to impact on the lives of their children.

Our parents are quite involved in the school activities as they are conveners of the PTA (Friends of CIS) of the Junior and High schools. They are also very involved in the schools yearly Inter-House sports, School Fun day activities, Open Day amongst others.
